COVID-19 Update: Our Continuing Commitment

  • Published 2020-04-28

Dear Westfield Community: The COVID-19 pandemic quickly changed our daily lives and has tested our abilities to adjust and forge a new path forward. It’s been heartwarming to see how we’ve come together to face these challenging times as a community. We are thankful for our neighbors doing their part to serve one another, including those making fabric masks at their dining room tables, others providing medical or first responder services, the good souls keeping the local store shelves stocked with supplies or providing bagged meals for children and senior citizens, and countless other examples of people pulling together to keep each other safe and healthy. Everyone can help to shorten this event by observing social distancing recommendations and staying home as much as possible.

I’m also very proud of the tremendous effort our WG+E/WCF team has made over the last few weeks adapting to the many changes that have come our way. They’ve been pros at taking appropriate measures to protect our employees and customers while keeping our business running safely.

Here are some ways we remain ready to support you:

Reliable access to utilities is especially important during this public health crisis. We continue to provide essential services to our customers and have suspended all gas, electric, and internet service disconnections until further notice.

We recognize that some customers will face financial challenges during this time. While we encourage customers to continue paying off their account balances each month, we remain available to discuss resources that may be available for financial assistance and payment plans that can be put into place.

We are here for you every day. While the WG+E and Whip City Fiber offices are closed to walk-in traffic, customer service (413-572-0100) and Whip City Fiber tech support (413-485-1204) are available during their usual hours. For natural gas and electric emergency services, you can reach us 24 hours a day at 413-572-0000.

As your locally owned utility, we are committed to navigating these days together with you. At this time, we can’t say for certain how long recovery from the effects of this pandemic may take, but rest assured we’ll be right here with you the whole way. We wish good health and safety to all of you.

Very sincerely,

Tony Contrino
