Construction Underway and Applications Being Accepted for Two More Westfield Neighborhoods

Westfield, MA, August 2016—Westfield residents are seeing Whip City Fiber trucks all over town these days. The high-speed fiber optic project, powered by Westfield Gas + Electric, is continuing to roll out across Westfield with two new neighborhoods now accepting applications.

Residents of the Wildflower Circle Area, Lady Slipper Circle to Camelot Lane, Eastwood Acres, and Scarfo Heights neighborhoods are now eligible to complete their service applications at whipcityfiber.com. Customers in these areas who submit their applications before September 30 will receive a free month of service.

Whip City Fiber offers full fiber optic service to residential and commercial customers at speeds of 1 gigabit or 1,000 Mbps for upload and download. The new neighborhoods come on the heels of two other groups to move into the application phase this summer. Westfield Gas + Electric and contract crews have been installing fiber infrastructure in all eligible neighborhoods. Neighborhoods in the first group, which includes Eastview Heights, Middle Western Avenue from Spruce Street to Kensington Avenue including all side streets, and the Prospect Street area from Foch Avenue to Willow Brook Lane, are currently scheduling appointments and having their service activated.

“The residents of Westfield are anxious for high-speed internet to be available in their neighborhoods and the installations are really rolling now,” said Dan Howard, Westfield Gas + Electric General Manager. “It’s great to open the process to additional customers in these new areas. It’s an exciting time for this project.”
