Southwick Broadband: Phase 1 Pilot

2026-08-29T00:00:00+00:00

We’re excited to be moving forward with the first phase of Southwick’s town-owned network! This project is currently making progress as other utilities complete the necessary “make-ready” work on existing poles. Once that work is finished, Whip City Fiber will begin network construction, installing the fiber network in three areas of town. We anticipate this construction beginning in Summer/Fall 2027, with service ready for homes in late 2027.

Phase 1 Pilot Areas Include:

—Birchwood Road, Feeding Hills Road, Fernwood Road, Gargon Terrace, Hudson Drive, Pineywood Road, Powder Mill Road, and Whalley Way.
—Bonnie View Road, Cedar Street, College Highway, Crescent Circle, Feeding Hills Road, Juniper Road, Renny Avenue, Ridge Street, Sefton Drive, Shirley Terrace, and Southwick Hill
—College Highway, Depot Street, Evergreen Terrace, Granville Road, Maple Street, and Sheep Pasture Road

This pilot area will focus on homes with existing overhead service. Addresses with underground service will be considered in the future.

Enter your address today to discover whether you are in the first phase or in a future build. Either way, complete the form so you can receive email updates about the project!

We’re excited to take this first step toward bringing reliable, locally owned internet to Southwick and look forward to keeping you updated as the project moves ahead.

Wendell MLP Lowers Residential Internet Rate

2026-07-27T00:00:00+00:00

The Wendell Municipal Light Plant (MLP) is pleased to announce a new lower residential internet rate for customers.

Effective July 27, 2026, residential internet service will decrease to $84.00 per month.

This rate reduction reflects the continued success of Wendell’s locally owned network, made possible through the commitment of its customers and the network support provided by Whip City Fiber.

Stay Alert: Know the Signs of a Scam This Holiday Season

2025-11-20T00:00:00+00:00

As we enter the holiday season, many of us may see an increase in unexpected or unusual calls. It’s a common time for scammers to target households, often using tactics designed to create confusion or urgency. To help you recognize potential scam activity and protect your personal information, here are three key warning signs to watch for:

1. SLOW DOWN: Scammers often create a sense of urgency—claiming you must act immediately or face a penalty. Take your time. Slow down the conversation and never feel pressured to give out personal or account information.

2. VERIFY: Scammers may pretend to be Whip City Fiber and can even spoof our phone number. If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, hang up and call us right at 413-485-1251. We’re always happy to verify.

3. STOP: We will never demand immediate payment through third-party apps, crypto, gift cards or prepaid debit cards. Any request like this is a clear sign of a scam.

Your safety and peace of mind are important to us. If you ever encounter anything suspicious, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
